Venice Venice Hotel

The sneaker rebels who made distressed $600 kicks a global obsession bought Venice's oldest palazzo and turned it into a (sometimes) dark, art-saturated design hotel that doesn't care what you think. Somehow, that's exactly why it works.

The Highs

Grand Canal terrace — the best outdoor dining seat in Venice
Every room designed around a different artist — and they mean it
Materials so thoughtfully chosen you'll find yourself running your hands along the walls
Venice Mart: the gift shop that makes you question everything you thought about gift shops

Stuff You Should Know

The hotel leans dark — deliberately, theatrically, unapologetically. If you need lots of natural light in your room, ask for a canal-facing room or accept that you’ve booked a mood, not a sunroom. The Venice Mart is not a gift shop — it’s a design concept store with clothing in old butcher’s meat cases, which is either brilliant or baffling depending on your disposition (it’s brilliant). Walk out the back door and you’re in tourist Venice. Walk out the front and you’re on the Grand Canal. Two completely different worlds, same building. Book the canal-view room. You’ll know why.

Food + Drink On-site surprises

Grand Canal Terrace, Arte Povera on the Walls, Shampoo in a Can

Roundup of food and drink [about 100 words]: Venice M’Art pulls off something most hotel restaurants don’t: it’s actually worth eating at. The Grand Canal terrace is the best outdoor dining seat in Venice — confirmed after 15 hotel inspections, not just enthusiastic guesswork. Lunch is casual, cicchetti at the counter, Aperol in hand. Dinner shifts to white tablecloths and a composed Venetian menu with a picture card option that sounds gimmicky and isn’t. The wine list is well-edited. The cocktails lean Venetian — spritzettos, bitters, house Americano with orange foam. Food rating: 8.5/10.
