Corte Di Gabriela

General description (30–35 words): An 11-room palazzo tucked into a quiet San Marco lane, run by a former restaurateur who draws the staircases himself and still makes breakfast every morning. Venice with actual soul.

Stuff You Should Know

Stuff You Should Know [up to 100 words]: The room won’t be the highlight of your stay — entry-level rooms are modest in size and the design doesn’t fully match the personality of the rest of the building. That’s the honest trade-off. What you’re really paying for is location, breakfast, and soul. The acqua alta steel bulkhead system means no flood anxiety, and rubber boots are on standby if you want to experience Venice’s famous seasonal flooding rather than dodge it. Rates fluctuate significantly by season. No pets, no extra beds.

Food + Drink On-site surprises

The Owner Makes Breakfast. Every Morning. That's the Whole Story.

Roundup of food and drink [about 100 words]: Breakfast at Corte di Gabriela isn’t a hotel amenity — it’s a personal statement. Owner Gian Luca prepares it himself daily: homemade quiches, made-to-order omelets and crepes, fresh pastries, Prosecco, and coffee sourced from Caffè Girani, reportedly Venice’s last remaining artisan roaster. Served in the breakfast room or in the wisteria courtyard when weather allows. The lounge bar is quiet and intimate — not a scene, which suits the hotel perfectly. For dinner, the surrounding San Marco neighborhood offers serious options within a five-minute walk, including Ai Gondolieri for Mediterranean dishes.
